Our Statement of Faith

Here at Revolution Church we believe in, follow and love Jesus Christ, God's only son. We believe Jesus' claims in John 14:6, that he is the only way to God and the ultimate source of truth and life.

By the power of the Holy Spirit we encounter the person of Jesus in the pages of the Bible and also our daily lives. Through Jesus we understand that God is interested in humanity and that God is loving, merciful, just and good.

We believe that the purpose of all people everywhere is to reflect God's glory and enjoy relationship with God. We believe that this relationship was broken through our disobedience and rebellion, but that through Jesus' life, death and resurrection this broken relationship has been restored!

One day Jesus will return to complete the revolution that He began, to redeem and restore His creation. Until then, we believe that as members of the global Christian community we are called to extend His glorious kingdom by carrying on His work. With Jesus as our role model and in the power of God we will humbly serve both God and creation bringing healing, justice and hope to the best of our ability.

In the tradition of our church fathers, we shall follow no creed but Christ.

Revolution Church is a registered charitable trust. As such it is overseen by a board of trustees.

The current board or trustees are:

2,000 years ago, in an obscure Palestinian village, a child was born in a stable. Today the entire world is still celebrating the birth of Jesus, and for good reason.

Toward the end of his life Jesus began to reveal that his true identity was immeasurably more superior than that of 'great teacher' or 'prophet'. He began to say very clearly that he had come from God, had equality with God and was himself God!!

On one occasion he said "My Father and I are one." Immediately the Jews wanted to stone him because of this. They said "We are stoning you for blasphemy, because you, a mere man, claim to be God." {C}[1]

When Jesus healed a paralysed man then said to him "Son, your sins are forgiven you." Again the religious leaders reacted strongly against Jesus, saying "Why does this fellow talk like that? He's blaspheming! Who can forgive sins but God alone?”.{C}[2]{C}

When Jesus was on trial for his life, the high priest put the question to him directly: "Are you the Christ, the Son of the Blessed One?", "I am" Jesus replied, "and you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Mighty One and coming on the clouds of heaven." At this the high priest tore his clothes. "Why do we need any more witnesses?" he asked. "You have heard the blasphemy." {C}{C}[3]{C}

Jesus himself said that to know him was to know God.{C}[4]{C} To see him was to see God.{C}[5]{C} To believe in him was to believe in God.{C}[6]{C} To receive him was to receive God.{C}[7]{C} To hate him was to hate God.{C}[8]{C} And to honour him was to honour God.{C}[9]{C}

In the light of Jesus' claims we are left with one vital decision, a decision which will necessarily shape every part of our lives. In the words of U2's Bono "you’re left with a challenge...either; Jesus was who He said He was, or a complete and utter nut case.

As a vibrant Christian community, Revolution Church is proceeding under the conviction that Jesus was no lunatic, nor liar, but rather Lord of all. We believe that Jesus' claims are substantiated by other evidence including; his many miracles, his perfect life and his empty tomb. History records that a great many of Jesus' followers continued to testify to Jesus' resurrection, despite the threat of persecution and death for doing so.

The most overwhelming evidence of all however in support of Jesus' claims to divinity is that He continues to work in our lives today. At Revolution Church we continue to experience the promise that Jesus made to his followers in Matthew 28:20 "I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Every week, in both obvious and subtle ways, we witness the loving care and guidance of Jesus in and through our community. Through answered prayers we experience His provision. Through the comfort and fellowship of His Holy Spirit we come to know His peace.

Jesus said "I came that they might have life, and have it abundantly."{C}[10] The overwhelming testimony of those in our church community is that life is far more abundant because Jesus is in our midst.

Of course, you don't have to join our church to begin your own intimate relationship with God. Through Jesus, you can begin to know God right here, right now, wherever you are. Here is God's promise to us:

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life."{C}[11]

Jesus took our sin on himself, on the cross. He chose to receive punishment for our sin, so that our sin would no longer be a barrier between Him and us. Because he fully paid for your sin, he offers you complete forgiveness and a relationship with him.

Here is how you can begin that relationship.

Jesus said, "Behold, I stand at the door [of your heart] and knock; if anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come into him."{C}[12]

Right now you can invite Jesus Christ into your life. The words are not important. What matters is that you respond to him, in light of what he has done for you, and is now offering you.

You could say to him something like, "Jesus, I believe in you. Thank you for dying on the cross for my sins. I ask you to forgive me and to come into my life right now. I want to know you and follow you. Thank you for coming into my life and giving me a relationship with you, right now. Thank you."

If you asked Jesus into your life, we would like to help you grow to know him better. In whatever way we can help you, please feel free to contact us. Or join us Sunday mornings at 10:30am at 442 Tuam St.
